Certificate of Technical Studies, Pharmacy Technician
If you want to “make a difference” in the delivery of health care, the Pharmacy Technician program may be the career choice for you.
- Pharmacy Technicians are health care professionals who assist pharmacists in providing the best possible care to patients.
- Program graduates who become pharmacy-board certified pharmacy technicians are prepared to assist in the practice of pharmacy under the direct and immediate supervision of a licensed pharmacist and have duties that include filling prescriptions, counting pills, measuring medications and labeling products. Pharmacy technicians may also maintain patient records and insurance information.
- The program is a two semester course of study and training that consists of 320 clock hours of classroom instruction and 600 clock hours of clinical externship under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in local area pharmacies.
- The CLTC Shelby M. Jackson – Ferriday Campus Pharmacy Technician program enrolls new students every fall semester (August) with scheduled completion of the program the following spring semester (May).
- The CLTC Pharmacy Technician program prepares graduates to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PCTB).
